Elinor Voytal is a maker and teacher based in the Colne Valley, West Yorkshire.

She uses textiles and jewellery making techniques to create carefully considered artefacts from materials with magical details.

Trained in knitwear design, Elinor is passionate about pushing the limits of materials and making.  This was exemplified in her colourful and intricate textiles jewellery which she sold through contemporary craft galleries from 2010 until 2022.

She continued to share her passion for materials in the eight years she spent as knitting technician at the University of Huddersfield.  Here she not only taught the skills of machine knitting and knitwear design, but also sourced and curated a varied, challenging and beautiful array of yarns for the students to experiment with.

For the past year Elinor has been studying full time for an MA in Textiles at the Manchester School of Art. During this time her practice has shifted (or grown) from being passionate about yarn to looking at ways of getting us to value ALL materials, particular those we already own or are around us.
