0 - Illuminated

This necklace is numbered 0 because it was the starting point of working with plants. Its colour and gold highlighted nodules are inspired by the imagery created by Samantha Harvey in her novel, ‘Orbital’ (Harvey 2023). She describes how mankind, when viewed from space, can only be seen when it is night on the earth, seen in the illuminated lights of cities. When it is day, humans are invisible.
